Houston Marriott at the Texas Medical Center

For those looking for a more economical option, the Houston Marriott at the Texas Medical Center has nightly rates as low as $119. It connects directly to the medical schools and hospitals, making it ideal for guests who are in town visiting patients or students. The large guest rooms have high-speed Internet access and spacious desks if you need to work while you’re away from home.

What makes the Houston Marriot stand our from the other Rice University hotels is that it is a pet-friendly facility with cheap on-site parking ($9/day) and street side access to one of the MetroRail stops. La Colombe d’Or Hotel

For a more intimate hotel experience, book a room at La Colombe d’Or Hotel. The Fondron Mansion, which houses the guestrooms, is an actual Texan historic landmark. It was built in 1923 and has now become the smallest luxury hotel in the world. The style is warm and traditional, in stark contrast to the Hotel ZaZa, and is decorated in a French Colonial style. There are only sixteen suites and apartments at La Colombe d’Or, making it one of the most exclusive Rice University Hotels. Suites are available for $275-$419/night and feature their own kitchen, dining room, and jacuzzi.
